I partner with nonprofits, leaders, and mission-driven organizations to solve organizational problems, strengthen programs and teams, and turn big-picture goals into practical action.


My work combines organizational development, strategy, leadership development, and cross-disability inclusion. Depending on the project, I might assess a program, help a team clarify its direction, coach leaders and staff, design more accessible systems, facilitate a strategic planning process, or help build a new initiative from the ground up.


I especially enjoy working with organizations that are navigating growth, change, or a complicated problem without an obvious solution. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in the knowledge of the people most affected by the work.

FACILITATION + EDUCATION

Facilitation and education are also central to how I work. I design and lead workshops, retreats, planning sessions, community conversations, and other learning experiences, with particular attention to accessibility and meaningful participation. I’m comfortable helping groups work through complex ideas, make decisions, navigate conflict, and move toward concrete next steps.


I have consulted, coached, facilitated, taught, spoken, or otherwise partnered with Special Olympics International, Special Olympics North America, local Special Olympics chapters in Maine and Washington, the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council, The Arc of Aurora, the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, TEDxMileHighWomen, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, AmeriCorps, Iliff School of Theology, and other schools, colleges, nonprofits, and small businesses.

The Wayfaring Band

I am the co-founder and former executive director of The Wayfaring Band, a nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado. The Wayfaring Band is an adventure where everybody belongs. They are not a rock-and-roll band, but a band of travelers. The band offers adventure travel and immersive learning opportunities for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Wayfaring Band was founded in 2012, and I served as the executive director until mid-2021.

 

N.O.W. Arts

I am a co-founder of the No One Way Arts Collaborative (N.O.W. Arts), an organization that helps people develop, nurture, and apply their creative selves.  From 2007 through 2011 we planned artistic retreats in various cities around the country, inviting creators to fly in from their home cities in order to participate in timed creative challenges. Between in-person retreats and digital creative challenges, N.O.W. has facilitated art-making opportunities involving more than 100 artists from 76 cities across 4 continents.

 

Public Art Commission

In 2015 I was commissioned by Denver Arts & Venues to create a public art installation at the La Alma Neighborhood House, which hosts a nonprofit organization called The Bridge Project. I collaborated with middle school students from the neighborhood to create a permanent poetry installation that reflected their experiences, interests, and desires. The following 4-minute video gives an overview of our project.

 

The Detached Garage Creative Residency Program

I run an artist-in-residence program out of the detached garage on my property.  Artists may apply for work space or live/work space, and residencies last from 2-6 weeks.  During their residency, artists also develop and lead a Double or Nothing seminar.  Double or Nothing seminars require the artist to teach two unrelated subjects at the same time. The intention is for artists to explore their individuality and share their depth and breadth of experience with the local community.
